New single released – The Minister is Dead 2007-09-11

Today we are releasing our second single ”The Minister is Dead” from the forthcoming album “The Much Needed Second Cold War”. The song reflects on the media and public response on the Swedish national crisis on the 11th of September 2003 when our foreign minister passed away after a horrific stabbing. The song also reflects on the lack of response of the stabbing of five year old girl Sabina on the same day. For the full story, click here.

As a curtsey to our fans the single will be available as mp3-file for free download during September. Thereafter, it will be available for listening and can be bought for download from the major download sites.

We truly hope you will enjoy the song. Tell us what you think in our guestbook!

Listening to the “The Cure” cover “Wailing wall” 2007-08-21

Some of you may have wondered how you can get a free listen to Marina Siertis cover of the ”The Cure” cover wailing wall. As we do not have the rights for the song, we can not feature it at our site.

However, we have found a web radio site where you can request the song and then listen to it almost immediately, as the station apparently has very few requests. Go to the following link: Dusterstadl

Scroll down to Marina Siertis – Wailing Wall. Click on “request”, and the song is requested (no log-in, no e-mail address, no nothing is required). Then click on one of the player symbols at the top (MediaPlayer, RealOne, WinAmp etc.) to listen to the station.

If you are curious of the playlist, click on “Playing next” to the upper right.

Website hacked 2006-08-01
Our website has been temporarily down today as it was hacked by someone supporting the people of Lebanon against the oppressor Israel. We do not think their message showed externally on our site. We may not support their means or their exact wordings (who knows, their message was in Turkish) but we do support the right for the Arabic people in the region not to get their guts spilled or children killed by Israeli bombs.
Lazy summer 2006-07-26
For the last two or three weeks we have predominantly been lazy in the summer heat taking some time off. We hope you do the same thing. As nothing is worth reporting we can offer a tip for your next Saturday evening (if you happen to be in Stockholm). Why don't you swing by Street Corner Clash at Sugar bar seeing some good live music and having a few beers. We'll surely do that. For more info go to Lobotom Records.
Interactivity in progress 2006-07-11
Our idea of an interactive site for our web album is actually working. We have received both title and art work suggestions. Latest contribution, which is awesome, comes from Rikard. Check it out at our discography section.
Ahead of us downloaded over 10,000 times 2006-07-05
During the last few weeks the track "Ahead of us" from our web album has been downloaded mode than 10,000 times. Now it is time to release another song, "Waking up". We do take the liberty of releasing a demo version of the song. As the web album is a living project and the whole concept is that you can follow our progress, we have no objections of releasing beta versions of tracks.
Web album heavily downloaded 2006-06-26
Although we have just released two songs for the web album and made no commercial or press release yet, our server is being kept busy. As an example, yesterday 1.6 2.3 GB of "Ahead of us" was downloaded. A new song will be released within weeks.
Web album - now a living project 2006-06-22
By now, we have uploaded two songs for the web album. These songs were originally thought to be the b-sides of our forthcoming singles "Disease" and "The minister is dead". However, as the recordings of "The much needed second cold war" progressed, we found ourselves ending up with better b-sides. So the two songs uploaded, , "Ahead of us" and "Turn" are truly leftovers.

The current suggestions of title and art work
Upcoming Web Album 2006-06-15
We are releasing a new album! This album will not be available in stores or web shops. The only way to get your hands on these tunes is right here on our web site, for free. Every now and then we will post new songs that did not make it to the album. So instead of releasing some "lost tapes" we go one step further and releses these songs right here, right now. =) We have not decided on a name for this album yet so you may enter the competition to name the album yourself! Simply post a suggestion in the guestbook!
You may also send us a suggestion for the album layout. Create a photoshop image 12x12 cm 300 dpi, zip it and mail it to info@marinasiertis.net. The album cover should not contain the band name "marina siertis" nor the album name. We will add them ourselves. May the best suggestion win!
New website! 2006-06-14
We are proud to present our new website! The site has been remade to make it easier for you to find the information you are looking for. Keep track of this new site for posts on exciting news and songs. We will be releasing some new songs that will not be a part of the upcoming album, so stay alert! /keif

The MS bomb - new logotype series 2006-03-11
As can be seen we have exchanged our old logotype with a new one. The one on display on the website is one in a series of MS bombs. Our Japanese and Russian sites now work again. As usual, we don’t have a clue what's in there. Probably nothing updated. Furthermore, our press section has been updated with high-resolution files.
Marina Siertis live in L.A. 2006-03-02
We now have a show booked in Los Angeles, USA at Bar Sinister on the 25th of March. Otherwise the work with the album is coming along quite nice

marinasiertis.net finally up again 2006-02-11

After having changed our web supplier and experienced tones of problems, our website is finally up again. We are very sorry for the mess up. This delay has depressed us greatly.

So what is up with Marina Siertis? In fact a lot of things have happened. Our first single “Disease” is now mastered, the graphic is done and it is on its way for pressing. On the album front we have also moved forward greatly. At present 11 songs out of 13 is decided upon. We are getting there!

On the live front we do not have anything planned. Our presumptive gig at Mondo, Stockholm last month was cancelled due to the problems Mondo has experienced lately. We hope they pull through. Except for this we have made to much progress with the single and album to have time to do anything on the live front.

I’ll have to get back to bug-testing this site. Cheers
/Martin L

Our new e-mail address becomes info@marinasiertis.net

The old url and mail address will still work for a while, together with the new ones

Back from Prague 2005-06-17

We just wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved with our live show in Prague. Our thanks goes both to the crew at the club and the audience. We really had a great time. The club was situated right at the Prague castle and everyone who have been in Prague know that the castle with surroundings is one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Anyway, once more thanks for a great time.

This week, much energy has been put into rehearsing our new live show. As you can see, we now have a few dates booked for our upcoming "Cold War Tour". News from the studio 2005-05-23

After spending 15 hours down in the coalmine studio this weekend, we got the results we were looking for. Now the B-site of our forthcoming single "Disease" is fully recorded. So that make both "Ahead of us" and "Disease" recorded, and the mixes of "Disease" are on the way. Furthermore, we will shoot some extra material to the video to "Disease" next weekend. Also more shows for our summer/fall tour are on the way. So we are getting busy.

Greetings
/Dr. Martin

Spring update 2005-05-10

Hello everyone. This is a spring update on the progress of Marina Sirtis. We have just finished recording and mixing the radio edit of our first single from the new album "Disease". At present we are right in the process of doing the last recordings on the B-side (yes, you may have to flip over the CD) "Ahead of us" and a few mixes of "Disease". As a bonus track we hope to feature a mix of an old goodie from "Delay and Depression". We'll be back on that information as soon as that is settled with the one who's done the mix.

If you're wondering whenever we will start doing live shows again I can inform you that we will now start looking into that so that the "Disease"-single can be accompanied by a small tour. We have initiated contacts both in Sweden and abroad.

So what's up with the album? We now have quite a few songs recorded, more being partially recorded and some still in a demo version. But we are moving along with greater pace now and things are starting to sound really good.

Cheers/Dr. Martin

Poorely updated site updated 2005-01-31

Apparently our mp3's have not worked lately. Now they work again. Also, if you have mailed to info@shadowplayelectronica.com without success, try mailing to info@marinasirtis.net instead.

On the musical front we seem to have come to a temporary halt. André has shortly nurtured his solo project "Art and the tangled mandarin" or what ever it is called and I've been producing Ruler of the Solar Empire. Now we will get back on track again with our forthcoming album "The Much Needed Second Cold War".

Cheers

Wailing wall snipplet 2004-11-19

One more we are failing in our weekly updates. Personally I've been working as a madman on my Ph.D. thesis that will be printed next week. Thereafter I will be able to focus on the music. The other guys have also been buried in uninspiring everyday fucking boring work and not that much has happened on the musical front. The voice on a few more songs has been recorded. One more song called "Abuse" has been written. Some modifications have been performed here and there.

To have something to show, click on this link and listen to a snippet from our The Cure cover "Wailing Wall". We are bound by our contract not to publish the whole song on the net so the snippet will have to do. Other snippets from the "Our Voices – A Tribute to the Cure" album can be found here.

I also want to welcome our friends from Manchester (UK) Davi and Johna in Blind Before Dawn back to cyberspace with their new website.

Cheers
Soon to be Dr. Martin

31.10. L'hippo Bar - Strasbourh (France)
03.11. Kaiserkeller - Hamburg (Germany)
05.11. Black Inn - Ranstadt (Germany)
05.11. Underground - Kaiserslautern (Germany)

12.11. Felsenkeller - Höxter (Germany)
18.11. Sputnikhalle - Münster (Germany)
19.11. Dark Area - Kassel (Germany)
20.11. Villa - Leipzig (Germany)

Our forthcoming album now has the working name "The much needed second cold war". This weekend we will again visit Fashionpolice Studios and record the voice to four songs. So the album moves steadily forward.

On a personal note I became an old fart yesterday turning 30. Happy birthday to me…

Enfant Terrible 2004-09-20

Yet another week has passed of our short lives. Last week a dear friend of us had a great birthday party and we played our new tune "Disease". For the first time, but hopefully not for the last, we entered the stage with no back tape and that was quite an experience. We enjoyed it so much that we even bought a drum set. But don't worry too much, we won't go all Britt pop on you just yet.

We also have good news for our fans in the Netherlands. You can now contact Enfant Terrible concerning booking Marina Sirtis.

Ongoing work 2004-09-13

There's not really much to tell about the progress the last week. We have worked hard and have almost finished the recordings on two songs. Actually we did finish recordings on one song but the day after the newly recorded files have vanished into thin air – strange. According to time schedule we aim to finish about three or four songs every months until Christmas. So to the once who have written to Santa and asked for the new album this Christmas, don't get you hopes up to high. But maybe elves will come down to the studio and give us a hand. But we feel it in the air that we are on a steady pace towards completing the album. As we have no new material to report – maybe you want to help finding the lost plane not shown in this Conspiracy Theory film.
